There are so many different types, designs, style and prices of cloth nappies out there. It has become a huge market in Australia over the past 9 years so much so that you can feel literally flooded with all the options.

So how do you know which cloth nappy to buy?

We have been contacted by a small, grass roots organisation to donate modern cloth nappies in as quick a time as possible. There are 50 babies who desperately need our help!

To cloth or not to cloth - is that the question?
_ I recently read an article in G Magazine – a great magazine for sustainable living and eco-friendly product choices – which presented their views on The Great Nappy Debate.

In the end, they quoted the same study I quote here in one of our previous posts. The outcome of the study was that the MOST eco-friendly option is cold washing cloth nappies in a front load machine & line drying in the sun.

That stands to reason really, doesn’t it?

There has been a study recently released, that was conducted by the University of Queensland Environmental Engineering Department in 2010.

This study outlines the various nappy systems currently used in Australia and their total and cumulative environmental impact. Unfortunately, the study did not include chemical leachate (leaching) from disposables in landfill so its still not an entirely accurate representation of the true impact of each system.

I am sad to say that there is a fair bit of misinformation out there however I am here to sift through it all for you and give you the facts!

Modern Cloth Nappies - Easy, Safe, Eco
We live in a world of convenience. We’re so rushed and stressed and tired that anything that comes in a convenient “use then throw away” packet we view as a God-send.

No other species in existence has EVER created something simply for the purpose of using it once then throwing it away. All of nature has a balance, a closed loop system whereby that which is destroyed becomes new again – ashes to ashes, dust to dust, the dust feeds the flowers that grow upon the earth etc.
